As Piedmont Office Realty Trust remodeled NASA headquarters for LEED® Silver certification, the DCSEU made it easier to upgrade to LED lighting and meet energy savings goals.
The great thing about these LEDs is that we dim them to 30% below maximum capacity and you can’t tell, they are so bright.
Piedmont Office Realty Trust, the owner of the building in which NASA is headquartered, set a goal to reduce energy usage by 5% annually. To do this, they needed to make smart, impactful spending choices. DCSEU staff provided technical assistance, helping Piedmont choose energy-efficient LEDs that will last up to 25 years. The new lighting reduces maintenance costs, improves staff comfort, modernizes the building's appearance, and cuts electricity use by more than 50%.
