BPI Single Family Building Analyst Training & Proctored Certification Testing

Course Description

Students in the EnergyScore® BPI Building Analyst certification training will learn how to perform comprehensive, whole-home assessments, identify problems at their root cause, and prescribe and prioritize solutions based on building science. The Building Analyst certification verifies the knowledge, skills and abilities needed to conduct comprehensive building performance audits, including assessing whole-building ventilation, blower door testing, measuring airflow, combustion safety testing, thermal boundaries, pressure boundaries, moisture issues, and testing/data collection.

Field training would also be offered hands-on in a Maryland house or a District location if an acceptable property is found from a student or DCSEU contact.

Course Format:  Live Vitrual Instruction, in-person or remote field testing

Prerequisites:  Building Science Principles as a pre-requisite 

Course Dates:

  • June 10-11, 2024 from 8:30 AM - 4:00PM - Live Zoom Classroom training
  • June 12, 2024 - Live Zoom or In-person Field Training
  • Field Exams – Will be scheduled June 13 or June 14 or through the following week

Registration deadline: June 3, 2024 at 5:00PM

Time Commitment:  5 days - Training is approximately 24 hrs and testing 5 hrs. Attendance will be tracked on a daily basis.  

Course Materials: 

Description of training materials (hard copies available upon request, too large to upload);

  • Bound class materials are shipped including our 479-page training manual, BPI reference standards, EnergyScore® field training checklist, reference sheets. Also, online access to the reference standards. 
  • 100’s of sample test questions at the end of each chapter which are completed and done as a group in class. 
  • Instant 24/7 access via EnergyScore.com to course appropriate BPI standards, quizzes, online training, field training etc to reinforced live trainings and prepare for testing. 
  • Live/Remote proctored field testing. EnergyScore® developed the remote proctoring processes that BPI currently uses. We will use that process to remotely test the students anytime/anywhere or at the training locations 
  • BPI test fees & proctor fees are included for the above. 
  • Our EnergyScore® Training Guarantee. We will retrain anyone/anywhere for free as many times as it takes to become certified. 
  • 10% EnergyScore® student discount towards Retrotec equipment. 

CEUs:  6 BPI CEUs for those with a current BPI certification.

All training and certification courses are offered at no cost to participants on a first come, first serve basis. Due to the time commitment for this course, registrants will only be allowed to signup for this course if they are not registered for any other courses through the DCSEU that present a time conflict (unless that course is self-paced).This program is designed to expand the local green workforce and local business opportunities.
