Course Description

This Introduction to Decarbonization will review the need and opportunities to reduce the carbon impacts of both building materials and systems. This course will explain the importance of Life Cycle Assessment when selecting major building materials and how to specify low carbon alternatives. In addition, the course will also discuss how to select systems that do not require fossil fuels. After completing this course, participants will be prepared to attend advanced level courses through the Train Green program.  Topics include:

  • Define decarbonization
  • Using Life Cycle Assessment to select low carbon materials
  • Alternatives to Fossil Fuels
